Website Development Tips
A website developer that I'd recommend is Rob Wallace at Tiger Promotions.

To start development  on your own - you will need to:
1.  purchase Frontpage or Dreamweaver Software or something similar
2.  purchase a domain name and get a web host
3.  have a logo, artwork, graphic and photos ready in jpeg format
4.  write your website content.
5.  come up with graphics for your site and determine the colors (and font) you would like to use in your site.  The most common website fonts are:  arial and verdana.  This site uses times new roman.

If you want new business from your website - then you'll have to work on a)  getting into the search engines and b) getting your ranking up.
You can hire a service to do some of this legwork for you.  The following steps will help you get a web presence:
1.  submit your site to search engines
2.  look for places where you can list your services and site for free
3.  continue to add links
4.  continue to develop content
5.  develop a newsletter (this can be way down the road)
6.  exchange links with colleagues and friends
